Trees (System), 2024

bronze, 4.2 x 5 x 1m

Looking to the local ecology and plant biodiversity of Sydney’s Rushcutter’s Bay, Trees (System) connects  the natural systems that operate our planet with linear piping systems of urban infrastructure. The mash-up of endemic botanical species that would have once existed on site, some of which can still be found locally,  interconnect with linear pipes referencing the liquids, gasses, data of urban infrastructure.

Made in collaboration with UAP / Urban Art Projects, Trees (System),  has excitingly taken Rothwell’s canvas/moulding casting methods into a whole new scale.
